Antonio Conte has already named a possible transfer target during discussions with Tottenham over the vacant manager’s job, according to Football Insider.
Various outlets, including the Guardian, are saying Conte is close to becoming Spurs’ new permanent manager after positive talks with the club.
The former Chelsea manager led Inter Milan to Serie A glory last season but left almost immediately after lifting the trophy.
He now appears close to taking the Tottenham job, but he will surely be demanding a few personnel changes when it comes to the squad.
Indeed, it seems he has already made it clear to the Spurs board that he expects the centre-back situation to be rectified.
Football Insider claims Conte has suggested Stefan de Vrij as a potential target.
De Vrij is a 29-year-old Netherlands international. He made 32 league appearances for Inter last season.
He would certainly add a bit of experience to the back-line, but more importantly he is a step-up in quality over the likes of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham and Daniel Levy take Conte’s advice.
Yes of course; no doubt Conte has said that and even put it in writing; extraordinary that he is saying these things when still not confirmed(not sure he ever will) as coach.
Lamentable reporting;shame on us for reading such rubbish.
