Tottenham defender Juan Foyth is set to join Villarreal on a permanent deal, according to reports in his native Argentina.

Foyth spent last season on loan at Villarreall, helping Unai Emery’s side win the Europa League and finish seventh in La Liga.

And it seems the 23-year-old impressed enough for ‘The Yellow Submarine’ to trigger a permanent transfer.

Argentinian outlet Ole claims Villarreal have exercised their option to sign Foyth for €15 million, which the report says is €2 million more than Spurs bought him for from Estudiantes in 2017.

That means Tottenham are set to make a profit on Foyth, but it still feels a bit disappointing to see him leave.

Foyth clearly has plenty of talent and is able to play as a centre-back and a right-back, two positions in which Spurs need to strengthen.

However, the Argentina international is prone to making mistakes in possession and is often accused of being too brave on the ball.

Hopefully, for his own sake, he can cut out those errors and enjoy a decent career in Spain.

  1. Good luck to the guy one of the hardest players I have seen to work out. He has so much skill but so little brain activity. If he could learn to think like Messi you would have one of the best defenders in the world.

  2. One of the biggest mistakes we are making;am I correct in saying we couldn’t stop the transfer going through as was part of the loan “deal”?If that was not the case, we will regret it 100%.
Another thing to thank the maniac, thieving conman of Mourinho; one bad mistake at Norwich and he was on his bike.

  3. This boy has huge potential & we are selling him & will probably keep dross. Looked a proper defender in the Europa final, something we haven’t got with Dier, Sanchez & Aurier. Crazy
