Ajax remain interested in signing Tottenham attacker Steven Bergwijn, according to the Daily Mail.

We relayed a story last month which said the Dutch giants were going to push hard to sign the 23-year-old this summer, and the reports believes that Erik ten Haag is still keen.

Bergwijn joined from Ajax’s Eredivisie rivals PSV in January 2020, but failed to build on a promising start, and scored just once in 35 appearances last term – with most of his opportunities coming from the bench.

Despite his struggles in north London, the Daily Mail reckon that Spurs want to keep the winger, although would be keen on recouping as much of the £27m they paid for Bergwijn 18 months ago if they were to move him on.

Bergwijn’s poor form saw him miss out on Frank De Boer Netherlands squad, but with Gareth Bale unlikely to return and Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela’s respective futures up in the air, we think that he should be given another season to prove himself impress the new manager.
