Tottenham are currently leading the race to sign Sampdoria and Denmark winger Mikkel Damsgaard, according to reports in Italy.

Damsgaard impressed at Euro 2020, scoring an excellent free-kick against England in the semi-finals – the first goal the Three Lions conceded at the tournament.

He has only scored two goals in 35 league appearances for Sampdoria since joining the Italian side from Nordsjaelland, but at just 21 he clearly has a lot of potential.

And ClubDoria46, a local Sampdoria outlet, is claiming Spurs are ahead of the rest of Damsgaard’s suitors when it comes to striking a deal.

The Londoners have apparently been keen for weeks and could now make an offer of somewhere between €30-40 million.

Fabio Paratici’s arrival as director of football has apparently helped Tottenham move ahead of the likes of Juventus and AC Milan in the race to sign Damsgaard.

And so there could be significant developments on this one in the near future, if these reports are to be believed.

Spurs could do with more depth in attacking areas, particularly with Gareth Bale returning to Real Madrid – so Damsgaard would be a smart bit of business.
