Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet could join Tottenham this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Lenglet joined Barcelona from Sevilla three years ago but could be on his way out of the club in the coming weeks, if Spanish outlet Sport is to be believed.
They say Barcelona are trying to ship a number of players this summer and will let Lenglet leave if they receive a good enough offer.
And on the newspaper’s front page on Monday morning, it is said that Spurs and Arsenal are possible destinations for the French centre-back.
Spurs are in desperate need of new centre-backs and are currently being linked (via The Athletic) with Bologna’s 22-year-old star Takehiro Tomiyasu, who can also play at right-back.
At 26, Lenglet is slightly more experienced than Tomisayu – but that’s not to say he would be a better alternative.
Indeed, Tottenham could do with signing both players, particularly if they let any of the current crop of centre-backs leave.
Whether Lenglet is the top-class centre-back who will transform Spurs’ defensive fortunes is up for debate, but it’s promising to see the Londoners target an established name.
