Harry Winks is in talks with an unnamed Premier League club, according to Football Insider.

The midfielder’s Tottenham future is in serious doubt having fallen down the pecking order in north London.

Last season, Winks made just nine Premier League starts and could have left in January on loan had it not been for Jose Mourinho blocking any potential move.

Football Insider have previously reported that director of football Fabio Paratici was willing to listen to offers for the 25-year-old, who missed the pre-season victory over MK Dons on Wednesday although he did start the friendlies against both Leyton Orient and Colchester.

It’s unclear which Premier League club Winks is speaking to, but he’s previously attracted interest from Aston Villa and more recently Everton.

Winks has been a great servant for the club, but with Oliver Skipp now overtaking him in the midfield, a move away this summer would give him the opportunity to play regularly again and increase Nuno Espirito Santo’s transfer budget.

    • Winks unfortunately came into a system under that rewquired playing out of the back. Dembele, Wanaya, and Dier to lesser extent took all the burden off Winks. The short snappy passes was good enough. once Mussa left, all we had were Dier and Sissoko. You can see why Winks became do effective, neither Dier or Sissoko could consisting pass the ball 15 years and Winks just do not have it in him. The guy he pattern his game off Xavi was winning and was at it a long time. Wing never add passer a long upfield passcto his kit

  1. It might be Everton who is after him, and that makes sense if the rumours surrounding Gylfi Sigurdson are true.. ( I cant say what they are, as I’m sworn to secrecy)

  2. Harvey White looks our best midfield prospect.

Whereas Skipp is similar to Holberg in his ability to defend and making mainly short passes to other players, White is more creative. Not only can Harvey White defend well, but he is also a great passer of the ball and brilliant at freekicks. He is just a more proactive and intelligent player.

Skipp , Holberg, Winks – they are more like functional players that don’t really offer anything different.

White should have been given a proper chance in preseason and so should have Troy Parrot.

At least Alfie Whiteman and Paskotsi have been given some playing time, but overall it has been disappointing.

  3. It is a shame that Winks has not developed as we hoped.
Like Dele he has gone backwards and sideways over last two years, much like his passing!!
He still could make it as he was playing well for England, but currently not worthy of being a regular starter.
Take note Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Redknapp, who spent much of Thursday nights querying why he was not starting when his performances were poor.

    • I agree with that.

I think players like Winks and Skipp are turned into functional performing robots, just following procedures. It is very boring to watch them play.

Dele Alli goes missing in most of the games he plays. He is the most frustrating player I have had the misfortune to watch at Spurs, because of his inconsistency.

I also think he has always been so overrated. He lacks pace and only produces rare and sporadic moments of flair.

Dele has done okay in these preseason games so far, but I would be very surprised if he does anything special against Arsenal, Chelsea and then in the important Man City game.
