Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal to sign Metz midfielder Pape Sarr, according to Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein.
On Friday, Ornstein – who writes for The Athletic and is always reliable when it comes to transfers – claimed Spurs are ‘nearing an agreement’ with Metz, though he also revealed three or four other Premier League clubs, plus Italian outfit Atalanta, are in talks for Sarr.
The next day, Romano – who is equally trustworthy on transfer news – suggested ‘negotiations are progressing’ between Tottenham and Metz for the 18-year-old Sarr, who enjoyed an excellent breakthrough season in Ligue 1 last term.
All of this comes as Spurs, by all accounts, prepare to sell record signing Tanguy Ndombele. The Athletic is reporting that Ndombele has asked to leave, and Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed the Frenchman will not be involved against Wolves on Sunday.
That means Sarr could be seen as Ndombele’s replacement. However, Romano believes Tottenham are yet to decide whether Sarr will return to Metz on loan.
All of which suggests Spurs could move for yet another midfielder on top of Sarr if he does go back to France for a year. It could be an interesting final week of the transfer window.
Why not part exchange him with Tanguy if he really wants to leave.
give your head a little wobble mate and go back to playing FIFA
Who has 60 mil ?
We are gonna take BIG hit on him.
Still plenty of time for Levy to torpedo the whole deal.
Let him rot in the reserves
So glad none of you lot are in charge of Spurs….
