Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed N’Golo Kante is available for Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Tottenham.
Kante has been out injured with an ankle injury he picked up on international duty with France earlier this month, but on Friday Tuchel revealed the Frenchman is in contention to play against Spurs.
“N’Golo is back. He’s back in full shape and ready to play on Sunday,” Tuchel said in a press conference (via Chelsea’s official website).
The news comes as a blow to Tottenham, who already face an uphill battle in the London derby because of their own ever-growing injury list.
Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura were the latest players to limp off in Thursday night’s 2-2 draw at Rennes in the Europa Conference League.
And with Son Heung-min also struggling with a calf problem, Harry Kane could cut a lonely figure up front against Chelsea on Sunday.
In all honesty, even if Kante was unable to play, the Blues would surely be favourites as a result of Spurs’ injuries.
If Tottenham are to get anything from the game, it’s going to have to be an admirable group effort similar to what we saw against Manchester City on the opening weekend.
