Antonio Conte is ‘ready to accept’ an offer to become Tottenham’s new manager, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs confirmed the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday morning after just 17 games in charge following Sunday’s embarrassing 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United.

And it seems they are already close to appointing Nuno’s replacement.

Multiple reports, including one from The Athletic, claim that Tottenham are in talks with Conte, the former Chelsea and Inter Milan coach who was linked with the post in the summer.

Not only have those talks begun, they are apparently close to ending – in a good way.

Romano says Conte is ‘ready to accept’ Spurs’ proposal and become Nuno’s replacement, with talks set to continue in their final stages in the next few hours.

That means the Italian’s appointment could be officially announced in the next 24 hours or so, if all goes to plan.

It’s worth remembering Conte almost became Tottenham head coach in the summer before the deal fell through, eventually leading to Nuno’s arrival, so nothing is wrapped up yet.

  1. Conte thought he had the clubs the weeners when he walked out on Milan, but found out the hard way. He is rich and successful, but they all are consumed by their ego. He will take the job and hopeful we can rectify a top 6. We are horrible at 8 place so any improvement should land us in the mix

  2. Anyone would be better than Nuno!, it’s said he was the 9th choice to fill the managers post. Spurs are a big club with passionate fans, top 5 is the minimum position this season

  3. Landing Conte would further solidify us as a big club, but let’s just enjoy this while we can. He doesn’t last long at clubs.
