If reports are to be believed, Antonio Conte is close to becoming Tottenham’s new manager.

On Monday morning we relayed word from journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims Conte is ‘ready to accept’ Spurs’ offer to make him Nuno Espirito Santo’s replacement.

With Conte’s potential arrival comes talk of tactical changes. The Italian is known for playing three at the back and a specific style of football.

So how could Tottenham line up if he is appointed?

There are obvious problems at centre-back. Cristian Romero will be a guaranteed starter but who are the other two? We think it will probably be Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez, and the club will surely target a new signing in that position in January.

As for the wing-backs, Sergio Reguilon should excel in a more advanced role, while Emerson Royal is likely to keep his spot on the right. That said, Conte’s appointment is good news for Matt Doherty, who is a far better wing-back than a full-back and should see his game time increase.

In central midfield, there is no need for Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Hojbjerg’s deep partnership to continue – a third centre-back means one of the midfielders can be slightly more forward thinking. Tanguy Ndombele is the perfect player to get the ball moving up the pitch from this role.

There there will be a link player between the midfield and attack. If Conte can get him motivated, Giovani Lo Celso could have a new lease of life here, playing behind the obvious front two of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

What do you think? Is this the line-up Conte will go for? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. Iv been saying all season we should play a back 3 with wingbacks I would go
    LLORIS
    SANCHEZ, ROMERO, RODEN
    REGULION, TANGANGA
    HOJBJERG NDOMBELE
    MOURA
    KANE SON
YOU HAVE A SOLID BACK 3 AND 2 FAST WING BACKS THAT CAN ACTUALLY CROSS A BALL ,CREATIVE PLAYER IN MIDFEILD MOURA WHO GIVES 100% AND GETS GOALS AND SETS UP GOALS

  2. Not convinced Conte will be next coach;Levy has habit of torpedoing deals at the last second when 99% there.
Also to those who say Conte is a winner,so was Mourinho winning a trophy with every club until he came to Tottenham.
In theory a Conte/Levy team seems like a marriage in hell unless one or both parties drastically change.I am a firm believer that a leopard does not change his spots.
    Whatever an interesting situation developing.

    • Be polite. Football is not played on sentiment. He is an average passer and even Dier an average passer is more aggressive as a defensive mid. There are 3 at the back which what the article is about. You will not need Skipp as one of the defenders hopefully it is Dier or Romero will step up in the midfield. Skipp will now strengthens the bench. Your sentiment are just what they are, sentiments. You do not play 3 at the back when you have 2 top class defenders and right now we only have one. My back 3 will be Dier left with Romero and Sanchez right. You play your seniors backs and if that do not work changes following.

    • Skip is an average player and should nit play. If Conte become Spurs manager i think he should sign a new centre back to partner Remero
