Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij is interested in joining Tottenham in January, according to Football Insider.
De Vrij won the Serie A title with Antonio Conte at Inter last season and is now apparently keen on reuniting with the new Spurs manager.
Football Insider claims the 29-year-old has told friends he wants to talk to Tottenham about a potential move to London in the winter transfer window.
The link makes sense as Spurs are likely to be targeting new centre-backs, with Conte already switching to a back three that consists of Ben Davies, Eric Dier and Cristian Romero.
Surely Conte will be looking for upgrades on Davies and Dier, and De Vrij could be ideal – he is strong, consistent and Conte knows him.
The report goes on to say Inter value De Vrij at about £40 million, so he would not be cheap, particularly for a player approaching 30 years of age.
But if Conte makes a strong case to Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici, it’s not hard to see a deal going through.
