Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is being strongly linked with the vacant Manchester United job, with BBC Sport claiming he would be keen on leaving Paris Saint-Germain if the Red Devils come calling.

Pochettino was reportedly (via The Athletic) in talks over a return to north London in the summer, but he ended up staying at PSG and Spurs hired Nuno Espirito Santo instead. We all know how that went – the Portuguese coach has already been replaced by Antonio Conte.

So what next for Pochettino? Well, according to BBC Sport he is interested in the United vacancy – but apparently the Argentine is ‘reluctant to force a mid-season move’.

The report suggests United are willing to hire an interim manager until the end of the season, when they will then look for a long-term successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But that approach would probably change if Pochettino let them know he was available now.

In theory, it all depends on how desperate Pochettino is to leave Paris, where he is said to be unhappy over a lack of control. It will certainly be strange to see him managing another Premier League club if he does end up at Old Trafford.
