Antonio Conte has confirmed that Ryan Sessegnon will start against Mura in the Conference League on Thursday evening.

Sessegnon has missed the majority of the season with an ankle problem that he sustained whilst away with England Under-21s back in September.

However, the 21-year-old returned to action in the latter stages of the Leeds victory on Sunday, which was his first Premier League appearances for Spurs for almost two years.

Sessegnon’s only previous outings prior to the Leeds win came in the Conference League play-offs against Pacos de Ferreira more than three months ago.

But the former Fulham man will return to the starting XI when Tottenham face Slovenian minnows Mura tomorrow.

Sessegnon was on media duties alongside Conte on Wednesday morning, which appeared to secure his place in the starting line-up before the Spurs boss confirmed his starting spot at the Ljudski vrt after saying the youngster has “great potential”.

“We’re working with him for the past two weeks, now he’s ready to start the game tomorrow,” Conte said.

“And yeah, I can’t wait to see his performance because he’s a talented player, very young with great space for improvement. Now it’s important to give him regularity to try to avoid injury and give him the chance to be available for every game.”
