Luka Modric is considering a return to the Premier League but does not want to re-join Tottenham, according to reports in Spain.

The 36-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season but Spanish outlet Super Deporte claims Real Madrid have offered him a one-year extension.

However, Modric apparently isn’t convinced by the short-term offer and is considering his options, with a move to England possibly on the cards.

The report goes on to say that the Croatian is not interested in returning Spurs, who he left for Madrid in the summer of 2012.

It is believed he will also turn down any approach from newly-minted Newcastle – but he could be tempted by Manchester City.

Modric is also thought to be eager to play in America, specifically New York City FC, in the future.

And so it seems this rumour is dead in the water before it even begun – it appears highly unlikely Modric will play for Tottenham again before the end of his career.

In truth, at 36 he is probably still too good for Spurs, as he has been for some time.
