Paris Saint-Germain may offer Tottenham the chance to sign Mauro Icardi as part of a January clear-out, according to reports in France.
Foot Mercato claims PSG are trying to sell up to seven members of the first-team squad in the winter transfer window, including Icardi, who has scored three goals in 15 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
Icardi’s agents know the situation and are said to be offering the 28-year-old to a host of clubs – Spurs, Newcastle, Barcelona and Juventus have apparently all been contacted.
It is believed Icardi wants to move to a ‘quieter’ club than PSG. While Tottenham have hardly lacked drama this season, expectations are certainly a bit lower than in the French capital.
There’s no doubting Spurs need a new striker to provide cover and competition for Harry Kane, but is Icardi the right fit?
His form has been erratic for some time and he hasn’t been on an impressive run of goalscoring form for a while now, but there is definitely talent there.
Time will tell if Tottenham take PSG and Icardi’s representatives up on their offer – for now this one is just a rumour.
Let’s just consider players that are premiership proven or promote our youth lads we have wasted so many millions in recent years and we’re not learning from our errors.
We keep signing PSG’s dead wood, Aurier was a disaster and Moura although better hasn’t really been the best. Start signing top quality young players, like De Ligt and Vlahovic.
