Harry Kane has paid tribute to Sergio Aguero by calling him “one of the best strikers to have ever played in the Premier League” in a message on Twitter.

The Argentine, who scored a hatful of goals against Tottenham during his Manchester City career, announced today that he’s retiring from football due to a heart condition.

Aguero, scorer of arguably the most talked about goal in Premier League history, left City less than six months ago and made just five appearances for Barcelona before being forced to hang up his boots.

When the news was confirmed this afternoon, Kane took to social media and recognised the striker’s services to the Premier League over the best part of a decade.

Kane said: “Congrats on an amazing career @aguerosergiokun. Sad to see anyone have to retire not on their own terms but one of the best strikers to have ever played in the Premier League. Respect.”

Kane has been struggling for goals and form more than ever this term, but this was a nice touch from the Tottenham man.
