Tottenham are fond of Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, according to the Daily Mail.

On Sunday, we relayed word from reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano claiming Spurs have opened talks with Hugo Lloris over a new contract.

But it seems the club is keen to strengthen between the sticks regardless of Lloris’ future.

The Daily Mail says Pope is one of four players Tottenham are looking at in the January transfer window – the others are Wolves’ Adama Traore, Juventus’ Dejan Kulusevski and Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic.

Lloris has played every game since Antonio Conte took charge, with summer signing Pierluigi Gollini having to settle for a place on the bench.

It’s worth noting Gollini is only at the club on loan, so it makes sense that Spurs are looking at goalkeepers as they may not sign the Italian permanently.

Pope would certainly be a more reliable deputy to Lloris than Gollini, with his hands at least – the concern is that Pope isn’t great with the ball at his feet.

We think Tottenham are more likely to wait until next summer to buy another goalkeeper anyway.
