In any case, Antonio Conte is open to the idea of Bergwijn leaving before the end of the January transfer window, and club chairman Daniel Levy is supportive of the idea.
It seems strange that Spurs seem so eager to move the Dutchman on, particularly after he impressed in the League Cup quarter-final victory over West Ham last month.
That said, Bergwijn has proven to be unreliable when it comes to his fitness, picking up numerous niggling injuries – he is currently sidelined and was unable to stand in for Son Heung-min against Morecambe on Sunday.
With that in mind, perhaps Tottenham are right to sell him and bring in another forward this month.
Can’t see why we would sell unless we have an upgrade lined up .
