Tottenham’s director of technical performance Steve Hitchen has left the club, according to the Telegraph.

Hitchin, who’s worked closely with sporting director Fabio Paratici since his arrival seven months ago and has been regularly seen extremely animated alongside the Italian on the bench this term, departs almost exactly five years after he replaced Paul Mitchell in 2017.

The report says that his decision was down to the fact that his role has been reduced following Paratici’s arrival, with the resignation coming just days after the January transfer window closed.

Hitchen was previously brought in as head of scout and featured heavily in the Amazon documentary All of Nothing that was filmed during Jose Mourinho’s time at the club.

He was involved in some high-profile transfers such as Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Steven Bergwijn, but the 45-year-old was often criticised for Spurs’ lack of activity, along with failed bids to sign the likes of Paulo Dybala and Bruno Fernandes.
