Antonio Conte has confirmed that he believes Eric Dier will return to action in the next seven days.

Dier missed four games following the New Year’s Day victory at Watford with a thigh injury, but did return to the side for the defeat at Chelsea before the winter break.

However, the centre-back was a surprise exclusion for the FA Cup game with Brighton on Saturday, with the Tottenham boss explaining that his absence was down to the same thigh problem.

Furthermore, Conte that revealed that Dier’s issue would keep him out of the visit of Southampton tomorrow, but he is hopeful that he could return for either the home game with Wolves on Sunday, if not the trip to Manchester City six days later.

Conte said he hopes to have Dier back in the next five days, with a maximum of one week.

Dier’s absence should allow Davinson Sanchez, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies to continue in the back three, with Japhet Tanganga also unavailable.
