On Monday morning, we relayed word from Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claiming Lazio are interested in signing Tottenham’s on-loan goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini this summer.

When Gollini returns to Atalanta the end of the season – providing Spurs don’t make his loan permanent, which seems unlikely given his underwhelming performances – it is believed Lazio will make their move.

And just like clockwork, Tottenham are now being linked with a replacement.

Germany publication Kicker claims the Londoners are keen on Bayern Munich’s Alexander Nubel, who is currently on loan at Monaco in France.

The 25-year-old has kept four clean sheets in Monaco’s last five Ligue 1 games. That’s impressive, particularly when compared to Gollini’s Spurs form – the Italian rarely looks like saving shots.

Kicker’s report says Nubel could yet prove himself an able successor to Manuel Neuer at Bayern, but his future is said to be in doubt despite his contract running until 2025.

That’s where Tottenham could come in, though they will apparently face competition from other clubs – let’s hope Spurs are able to steal a march on those other suitors.
