Tottenham’s starting line-up for this evening’s Premier League meeting with Manchester City has been confirmed.
The headline news? Eric Dier is back in the team after recovering from injury. He joins Cristian Romero and Ben Davies in a back three in front of Hugo Lloris.
Ryan Sessegnon is a surprise inclusion at left wing-back. Perhaps Sergio Reguilon – who isn’t even on the bench – is the unnamed player with Covid, as confirmed by Antonio Conte in his press conference yesterday. Emerson Royal is the right wing-back.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg partners Rodrigo Bentancur in central midfield, while Dejan Kulusevski joins Son Heung-min and Harry Kane in the front three.
Spurs have a couple of game-changing options from the bench, namely Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn. Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga miss out through injury.
There had been suggestions Conte might switch to a back four after the poor performances against Wolves and Southampton, but it seems the Italian has stuck with 3-4-3.
It will be interesting to see if Conte makes early changes if Tottenham go behind in the first half, as he did against Wolves.
