Many Tottenham fans have slammed Harry Winks for his performance against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

Antonio Conte’s side were hoping to build on their biggest Premier League victory of the campaign at Leeds, but Spurs slipped to an embarrassing exit to the Championship outfit, which ensured another year without a trophy.

Josh Coburn’s extra-time goal proved the difference as Tottenham followed up a win with a defeat for the sixth time already in 2022.

According to WhoScored, Winks was Spurs’ worst-rated starter on the day (6.08). The midfielder made just one key pass throughout the 120 minutes and failed to complete a single dribble or register a shot on target.

Furthermore, he didn’t win a single ground or aerial duel and was dribbled past five times, which was more than the entire Tottenham team combined.

It was a dreadful display all-round from Conte’s side, with Heung Min Son and Harry Kane amongst their worst performers.

But many of the Tottenham faithful were particularly angry with Winks, as you can see by the reaction on Twitter:

    • Winks always take the fall for the team. Conte has zero responsibilities to keep playing a formation he do not have the personnel.343 garbage; rubbish. When is he going to switch to a back 4 add another midfield and wide player instead of this wingbacks who contribute next to nothing.

  4. Yes Winks had a really bad day. But, he was not the only one, for many of them kept on passing the ball sideways and backwards. Why keep on giving it to Lloris, he is the worst distributor of passes in the Premier League.
    Surely, the real fault for last night rubbish performance was Conte. He failed to make changes when it was so clear we were on the back foot. And then to cap it all he made two substitutions in the final 15 mins. The last one was Five mins from the end giving a 17 year old his chance to play.
    I mean does he think he is Superman.
    Once again only one shot from outside the box. Are they frightened to shoot.
    No variation in corners or free kicks. This is not Rocket Science.
    To me the only player who played well was Dier he should be made Captain

    • Thank God someone paying attention. It is easy to single out Winks always our matched by numbers in the midfield. Conte to these fans bears to fault in their eyes.

      • Yeah John ive gotta agree with your comments I dont understand Conte continuing with playing a back five with the worst players in the team being used, Sessignon is a trier but not good enough , Royal is ball blind and dosent understand basic football moves is atrocious, Dioherty has done his best but is woefully short on expectation. Why not play Bergwyn in the role he was going to use Traore . best attacking layout

  7. Eh, this news would shock everyone now. I remember the first soccer game I ever played. I watched it on DVD in my father’s old garage. But recently I dug out that very disc and decided to watch it. But I couldn’t open it on my laptop, so I decided to look it up on the Internet.
