Tottenham are set to activate an option in Troy Parrott’s contract which will see his deal extended by 12 months, according to The Athletic.

Parrott’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2023, but Spurs are keen to get him tied down despite Antonio Conte not speaking to the forward in the five months he’s been at the club.

The report says that while Tottenham are hoping to sign an understudy for Harry Kane this summer, Parrott is not considered to be established enough for that role and is likely to be loaned out to the EFL once again.

He’s currently on loan with MK Dons, and has shown far more promise than during his loan spells at Millwall and Ipswich, directly contributing to 12 goals in his 38 appearances to help the Dons move in contention for automatic promotion.

Abd the Athletic believe that Parrott could return to Stadium MK next season, regardless of whether they go up, although despite his improvements, Spurs don’t see him as a future first-team player.

  1. A lot of people didn’t see Harry Kane as a future first team player. He wasn’t a prolific scorer, & had a poor time at Leicester but it took Tim Sherwood to recognise his abilities as a coach before stepping into the first team manager role giving Kane his opportunity.
