Tottenham’s unbeaten start the resumption of the Premier League came to an abrupt end as they were comfortably beaten 3-1 by Sheffield United.
Sander Berge put the Blades ahead just past the half-hour mark before Harry Kane thought he’d levelled, only for VAR to have adjudged Lucas Moura to have used his hand in the build-up and ruled it out.
Jose Mourinho’s side never recovered from that moment and fell further behind courtesy of goals from Lys Mousset and Oli McBurnie.
Harry Kane struck in stoppage-time, but it was too late, too late, for Spurs.
Here’s how every Tottenham player rated on the night.
Hugo Lloris, 4 – Couldn’t do anything about the three goals.
Serge Aurier, 2 – Utterly horrendous.
Davinson Sanchez, 3 – Had shown signs of improvements against Manchester United and West Ham, but the Colombian was back to his sloppy, unreliable self, at Bramall Lane.
Eric Dier, 4 – Was solid for the first hour, but disasterous from then on in. Produced some horrible, horrible defending for Mousset’s goal.
Ben Davies, 4 – Poor.
Moussa Sissoko, 4 – Wasted some good opportunities on the break in the first-half and his evening was summed up by needlessly conceding a corner from an awful back-pass.
Giovani Lo Celso, 3 – His worst game in a Tottenham shirt. Not the Lo Celso we’ve come to know recently.
Lucas Moura, 5 – The best of a bad bunch in terms of Spurs’ attacking players, but his decision-making remains questionable.
Steven Bergwijn, 4 – Offered nothing before he was hauled off after the break.
Son Heung-min, 3 – Set up Kane’s late goal, but has been shocking since the resumption.
Harry Kane, 5 – Strange night for the England captain, who had the ball in the back of the net four times, but only one counted. Had an equaliser harshly chalked off by VAR in the first-half and two more correctly ruled out for offside in the second. Got his goal in stoppage-time, but it meant little.
Substitutes
Tanguy Ndombele, 5 – Given his first minutes since the restart, but by the time he was introduced, Tottenham were 2-0 down.
Erik Lamela, 5 – Tried to get Spurs going, but didn’t show enough quality.
Dele Alli, 3 – Contributed nothing.
Jan Vertonghen N/A – Replaced Davies late on.
What does Lamela do apart from hold the ball too long, he’s hopeless and I wouldn’t have rated him at all. Aurier, Dier and Sissoko are three more that need to go come the summer.
Shouldn’t you include a grade for the manager ? Cannot see spurs had any tactical ideas and no idea how to combat the opposition. If you give grades for the manager can I suggest a zero for Mourinho tonight please?

Absolutely pathetic; Mourinho is a has been,who should just go back to sardine fishing in his homeland.
Covid 19 has come as a warning for Mr.Levy; he should get used to an empty stadium as I don’t believe many fans will be in hurry to be there when spectators are allowed back.
As for Harry Kane, if you have an ounce of brains, you will leave and join a team with a future.

I was against the appointment of Mourinho after Poch was sacked. Levy used him as a scapegoat and let go the best manager Spurs have had since Nicholson. Mourinho’s style of play is boring and his best days are behind him. Our Chairman and owner do not back their managers in the transfer market and we are a shadow of the team that we had under Poch. I have been a supporter for many years and I cannot remember seeing my team play such negative and unimaginative football as they have under Mourinho. No wonder Man U were glad to seethe back of him
Been a Spurs fan for 60+yrs and it doesn’t and cannot get any worse.
The appointment of Mourinho is worse than that of George Graham…Levy as got to find a manager that suits THFC and then we rebuild from there…people say we have a good squad now…the quality and effort is awful and I’m sorry to say that they look like they don’t give a toss which is unforgivable.
