On This Day In Spurs History: 20th May
1961 – Today is the birthday of Clive Allen. Signed by Tottenham in 1984, Allen famously scored 49 goals in all competitions in 1986/87 to break Jimmy Greaves’ club record. In total Allen scored 84 goals in 135 games, averaging a goal every 1.6 games.
1967 – On this day in 1967, Tottenham beat Chelsea 2-1 in the first all-London FA Cup Final. Jimmy Robertson gave us the lead in the first half, before it was doubled by Frank Saul. Though Chelsea pulled on back in the dying minutes, we were able to hold on to win the cup.
