On This Day In Spurs History: 8th July

1980 – On this day in 1980, Robbie Keane was born. Keane joined Spurs for £7m in 2002 and became a hero at White Hart Lane, scoring 107 goals in 254 appearances.

Unfortunately Keane then tarnished his reputation with the Spurs faithful by joining his ‘boyhood’ club Liverpool, only to return with his tail between his legs several months later. Keane has thus far failed to recapture his old form during his second spell at Spurs and looks likely to depart once again during the summer, having spent part of last season on-loan to Celtic.

Spurs Quote Of The Day: 8th July

“If someone wants to give you a bum steer on who we’re after, then so be it. If you want to know, ask me, because I have a list of players we want and Robbie Keane isn’t on it.” – Glenn Hoddle, days before Spurs splashed out £7m on a certain Robbie Keane.
