On This Day In Spurs History: 12th July
1956 – On this day in 1956, Tony Galvin was born. On the recommendation of Bill Nicholson, Galvin was signed from non-league Goole Town in 1978 and eventually played in our FA Cup winning sides of 1981 and 1982, as well as the UEFA Cup winning side of 1984.
Prior to joining Spurs, Galvin had completed a degree in Russian Studies and was studied teaching as a postgraduate. Having retired from a career that included 273 games and 31 goals for Spurs, Galvin returned to education teaching.
