On This Day In Spurs History: 2nd August
1997 – On this day in 1997, Spurs played Fiorentina in a testimonial game for David Howells and lost 2-0. A product of the Spurs youth system, Howells played 335 games for Tottenham and scored 27 goals.
The game was also noticeable for the fact that it gave the White Hart Lane crowd their first look at our summer signings of Les Ferdinand and a certain David Ginola.
