Reports claim that Birmingham have a bid accepted for Robbie Keane of £4m, which could potentially rise to £6m.
Considering Keane’s age, it seems likely that Spurs receiving the full fee of £6m could be dependent on Birmingham staying up this season, rather than being based on the usual factors, such as appearances, goals or international appearances.
Keane has had a torrid time at the club since returning for a brief hiatus at Liverpool, with his tail firmly between his legs and his confidence seemingly shot. It is easy to say in retrospect that we should have left him to rot at Liverpool, instead of returning £12m of their initial transfer fee, but it’s true to say that Keane did play a part in our climb from the nether regions of the Premier League in Harry’s first season.
Before he left for Liverpool, Keane was one of the darlings of White Hart Lane, but his reputation will always be tarnished by the ease of which he walked out on the club. That’s a real shame, as in his first spell he was a great player for Spurs and his contribution during that time shouldn’t be forgotten.
With regular football I reckon that Keane could soon be back amongst the goals at Birmingham. He could have left the club as a hero, but I dare say that there will be some unforgiving souls who hope that he fails. Keane only has himself to blame for that.

He was a top player for us and I for one wish him all the best. It was a pity he never got a chance to re-establish himself in the team because he was genuine class. Leaving for Liverpool was the biggest mistake of his life and I’m sure he knows that as well as anyone. I’m surprised he never got a start ahead of Pav – who is fairly useless in general play.

good player in his day, but harry knows what hes doing and i think he can see keane as lost the plot a bit, thats why he wont loan him out first, if he loaned him to birimngham and he was shocking they wouldnt buy him, its not as if hes getting any younger and its a mishap hes been crap for 2 seasons and harrys thinking quick cash in.
The worse thing about it, i think if birmingham do sign him they will make their side weaker, the way they play now is one strong forward in jerome who does a lot of endless running, with a packed midfield that battles for everything, maybe they could play with 2 up front but i think the midfield will be a lot weaker and they will struggle.
But fair play to harry if he can get 6 million for keane hes a genius, i mean if harry really thought keane would rediscover the form he was in before he went to liverpool by loaning him out for a few months, he would be doing exactly that.
Robbie must go down as one of our stars, for many years he was great for us. He should always get a warm welcome back. He gave a lot during his time and we should not be bitter over the Liverpool fiasco. Remember the good times so he always can be a player who feels himself a yiddo. Thank you Robbie for all the great goals and those great partnerships up front , particularly with berbatov which gave such pleasure.

Good luck to Robbie he has been great for spurs and he will prove Harry wrong, why Harry never played him alongside Pav is a mystery they are both class players, as for Liverpool you can bet at £18 million Levy and Comolli gave Robbie plenty of encouragement to leave, anybody know where Comolli is now? at least Robbie will get a fair chance to play again and Spurs are going to have to spend big to replace him.
