While Spurs may be seen as short of cover at the back, one of our men is enjoying life at the Lane and has earned some praise from his manager as his performances look set to earn him a new contract.

William Gallas may not have been the most popular signing with our supporters, given his list of previous employers, but his arrival turned out to be much needed, given the injuries to Dawson and King that swiftly followed.

He has put in some steely performances at the back and the Daily Telegraph reports that there is a clause in his contract that will earn him another year’s contract if he starts 30 games this season. So far he has managed 18 and as and we’re not that strapped at the moment, we won’t stick him in the reserves when he hits 29 as some clubs would.

Harry Redknapp is pleased with the impact Gallas has made but clearly believes he hasn’t won over sections of the Spurs faithful: “William Gallas has been absolutely amazing. For me he’s just been completely different class, and I think people don’t like to give him the credit.”

Gallas seems to have given his all but are his performances appreciated, or is he being over-rated? It may just be the case that his connections mean that he never becomes a fans’ favourite at Spurs.

  1. Forget his gooner past he is a quality player that has made a definate impact in our defence. With his vision of the game and commanding leadership qualities I believe that he should be made team captain.

  2. Don’t care that he was a gooner. He’s come up absolutely huge in several key games for us this year.

Gallas is a Yiddo, Yiddo, Yiddo.

  3. I thought at the time he was an excellent signing and he’s proved it ever since. In addition to his own performances, I think he also offers god leadership on the pitch and has a really positive effect on the rest of the back four. Plus he absolutely HATES losing which is exactly what you want
