There has been much talk of a ‘new’ right back coming to Spurs in the transfer window with names such as Phil Neville and Wes Brown being linked with the club.
It’s already questionable whether we need cover in that area and aside from Hutton and Corluka, one of our own is starting to impress in the Premier League, albeit with another club.
Kyle Walker arrived at Spurs in 2009 and was immediately loaned back to Sheffield Utd. He spent the early part of this season on loan at QPR and seemed destined to be one of those players who gets continually loaned to the Championship before finally completing a permanent deal back there.
However, he now finds himself on loan at Aston Villa and has been earning praise from his manager and team-mates alike. Gerrard Houllier described his Villa debut as ‘fantastic’.
In between all this, Walker has made just 3 appearances for his parent club, but after starting to impress at Villa, could he have what it takes to make it at Spurs?
he’ll be number one next season, unless Harry gets Glen Johnson. Then he’ll be back up for Glen. Not bad.
well ones things for sure… if he gets games at villa, then he will only improve as a player and gain valuable premiership experience!!
look forward to seeing what he can do in the future!!
Harry is buying one season wonders to win something before he departs for England the saying you win nothing with kids is old hat. You can win with maturing kids and Walker has matured and he his ready to play for us . Also Townsend should also be kept for the Danny Rose affect we will need to win games in stalemate like the Utd game
Sour puss! ;-o
I think Walker is going to be a much better player than Glen Johnson and will have his England place before too long. I’m hoping Harry isn’t foolish enough to waste money on Johnson that could be spent on the striker we are all crying out for.
Assuming Walker is ready to join the squad next season then it would make sense to sell one of Corluka or Hutton. Lets hope we do manage to actually sell one of these two rather than being forced to go down the loan route which seems to be the only way we can get rid of our surplus players these days.
Look Harry will not manage England. Glen Johnson is not a good right back. Kyle will put on the style next season. Now back to the buzzcocks
We have several prospects that need to be in the 1st team squad and playing on occasions starting next season. These include Walker and Caulker. Naughton I am unsure about and Rose ans Townsend might not be good enough when you have Bale, Lennon and now Piennar. Will be interested to see what Harry does with O’Hara as well. He showed a lot at Portsmouth and would be a great central midfield back-up if he would accept the role but with Modric, VDV, Hydd, Palacios, Jenas and Sandro ahead of him, he might have to move on.
Don’t see any good strikers out there though. Still want 6’3″ plus physical thug to get on the end of Bale/Lennon crosses. Must be physical and fearless. Maybe an attacking Kaboul.
Jury will be out on Walker- Hutton was impressing at Sunderland, so performing outstandingly at another club don’t mean he will be the same for our club?
Walker needs to do alot of work on his defensive qualities before he plays right back for us week in week out. He is better going forward. As for glen johnson, no thanks, not good enough for a regular top four team.
Towsend could make it next season. All I can say is watch out Lennon your place in the team is seriously under threat.
