The Croatian FA website has reported that Luka Modric has undergone surgery to remove an inflamed appendix.

It seems as if Modric will be out of action for the next 10 days, which would see him miss tonight’s game against Blackburn and our match against Bolton this weekend.

Luka’s injury, is another blow to Spurs who are suddenly pitched into the middle of an injury crisis. Although any absence may be brief, the influential Croatian will be badly missed.

So who will replace him? Wilson Palacios should be available, so our guess is that he will partner Jermaine Jenas. The other options are for Steven Pienaar to adopt a central role, with Niko Kranjcar on the left, or even to drop Rafael van der Vaart back into a deeper midfield position, allowing us to revert to a 4-4-2.

Suddenly buying Charlie Adam doesn’t seem such an outlandish idea.

  1. It gives us little options we have soo many players out, I think Sandro deserves a chance again after being subbed at Fulham and his physicality could help deal with Blackburn.

    I want Harry will play
    Gomes Gomes
    Corluka Hutton
    Gallas Gallas
    Woodgate Bassong
    BAE BAE
    Lennon Lennon
    Sandro Jenas
    Palacios Palacios
    Pienaar Pienaar
    VDV VDV
    Pav Crouch

  2. It does not say on the spurs website that hes injured or hes not going to play nor has sky sports news said anything about it! Are you sure its our Modric and not another…?

  3. Change back to a 442. Gomes Corluka Woodgate Gallas (if fit) Ekotto Lennon Sandro Vdv Krancjar Defoe Crouch/Pav.

I’d pick Sandro over Palacios. He still looks a little iffy but I think will turn out to be a much better player (reminds me a lot of Kaboul’s first stint at Spurs). Give him a bit of a run until THudd gets back and then judge him. I think some of us may be surprised.

  5. ITS GOT TO BE KRANJAR AND KEEP JENAS / PALACIOS / PIENAAR AS FAR AWAY FROM THE 1ST TEAM AS POSSIABLE , MY TEAM WERE POSSIABLE 4X3X2X1 GOMES CORLUKA GALLAS WOODGATE EKOTTO LENNON SANDRO BASSONG KRANJAR VDV PAVALYUCHENKO ! ! !

  6. This is the perfect opportuity to play 4-4-2. VDV replaces Modric in the centre with one of Jenas or Palacios in the centre protecting. Then Lennon on the right and either Pienaar or Kranjcar onthe left. Then we can play 2 upfront as one just isn’t worknig at the moment. My preference would be Defoe and Crouch then the Crouch/VDV partnership gives us an added dimension rather than being the only one.

Back 4 really picks itself. Too early to throw Woodgate into the mix for 90 mins.

With all the teams above us picking up maximum points we really need to get a win otherwise we’ll get sucked into teh trailing pack of Liverpool, Sunderland etc…

  7. O’Hara would have been an excellent replacement given his work rate. Bentley possibly? Oh wait that’s right…….

Oh well, I guess old Wilson “Yellow Card” Palacios it is then!

When do you think he will get his yellow card? 1st or 2nd half? Anybody know if Skybet have stopped taking bets on this yet?
