There was a time when you couldn’t keep David Beckham out of the news, but with the stadium issues and transfer window dominating the headlines at Spurs last month, it’s been easy to forget that Becks has been spending the last few weeks at Spurs Lodge.
Beckham is due to return to L A Galaxy shortly, but Harry Redknapp has been talking about the possibillity of him returning. Beckham has apparently been inspiring the other players in training and Harry even seems to be crediting him with an ‘assist’ for the goal at Blackburn.
“The ball Van der Vaart hit for Crouch to score, David hit about seven of them the other morning. It was like he had radar on the ball and Crouchy heading them into the goal. I keep saying to my players ‘that’s what I’ve been asking you to do lads’.”
Beckham contract with LA Galaxy expires in November and Harry claimed that he would be interested in signing him.
“Is it something we would consider in November? Yeah, it could be. You would love to have him at your club. I love the way he plays.”
It’s easy to be cynical about the whole Beckham saga, but if he has had a direct effect on the players during his brief stay, then something good has certainly come out of it. Do you think that it would be worthwhile to sign a 36 year old Beckham in November?
