Tottenham’s heroes have been speaking after their famous last 16 win over AC Milan last night.
On the club website skipper Michael Dawson said: “It was backs to the wall for 90 minutes, but we stood strong. What a night out there. The atmosphere was incredible.
“It was a tough night for us, not just myself and William Gallas, but the whole team. We had to defend for our lives and we did that.
“The game plan wasn’t to go out there and defend but you have to give credit to AC Milan. We couldn’t get out like we wanted to but we showed a different side to our game, everyone defending and getting behind the ball. We made it hard for them.”
Meanwhile Heurelho Gomes, who combined his usual heart stopping moments with some fine saves, said: “It was brilliant for us, great for the club and fans, and now we have to move on.
“We have big games coming up and we have to wait to see who we get into the quarter-finals. It was not easy, but we deserved to win.”
Peter Crouch, who scored the crucial goal at the San Siro told reporters: “I think tonight we proved something different. We can be resilient as well. So why can’t we get to the final?
“Normally we are a very attacking team, but tonight we had to change the way we normally play. I think the whole team has to take credit for the clean sheet.”
As Crouchy implied, it certainly wasn’t the game that anyone expected and for Spurs to get two clean sheets against a side like Milan is almost as pleasing as a comfortable win.
Yeah? Pity you’s couldn’t show that side of your game on Sunday Michael.
Why do our players only raise their game for Champs league and obviously don’t really give a shit about conceding 3 goals to teams like Wolves and Blackpool. It as shown last night that it isn’t down to ability. It’s purely an attitude problem within the team. Needs sorting.
*It WAS shown last night*
Come on You Spurs !!!
