After former Spurs target Giuseppe Rossi ruled him out of any possible move at the weekend, more names are coming up as possible replacements for some of Tottenham’s wayward strikeforce. The latest in this long line is Amauri, a Brazilian born striker who plays his football in Italy and has gained one full cap for the Italian national side.

Amauri is currently on loan at one of his former clubs Parma from Juventus but his agent Ernesto Bronzetti has had this to say,

“There are several clubs interested,” Bronzetti told Tuttosport.

“There are at least eight bids for him – from England where I can reveal Tottenham are interested, but also from Spain and Germany.”

“In Italy there are two clubs on him, one in Rome and one in Milan but I cannot say which.”

The article goes on to describe him as a ‘revelation’ at Parma, but if you look at his record it consists of 10 clubs in 11 years and a scoring record of less than a goal every three games.

There seems to be an awful lot of interest for a player with a scoring record that can generously be described as ‘average’.The player’s agent may be fuelling speculation in the hope of securing another signing on fee and Spurs fans might be forgiven for hoping that this story at least, is no more than a rumour.
