Team news for tonight’s match at Manchester United will be released by the club shortly but we already know that Luka Modric will be missing from the Spurs line up. While some websites may have slightly libellously suggested that the player had ‘gone on strike’, manager Harry Redknapp moved quickly to suggest that Luka’s head just isn’t right.

“He’s got a little bit of an injury,” Harry said. There’s a possibility he could have played through it. But at the moment his head’s not in the right place.”

With Chelsea seemingly securing a deal for reputed Spurs target Juan Mata, media reports differed as to what their Modric stance was, but the consensus this morning is that a further bid is likely.

Meanwhile Gareth Bale said: “Luka is a fantastic player. I’m not sure what the situation is with him but I think if he is here then he’s great for the team but if he’s not then we have to get on without him.”

We can expect more stories as the day continues, but perhaps Bale is right and maybe that time has come to get on with it and move forward without Luka Modric.

  1. Its Harry who should go next, how the hell does he think he can get 4 quality players in if he sold modric, constantly talking nonsense to media.

  2. Let him rot if need be, tho’ we keep being told what a splendid chap he is and how he will always give of his best….. The future credibility of the club and our ability to keep players in the future requires that Levy sticks to his guns. (Oh and incidentally it would be a really good thing for football generally if a player fails to hold a club to ransom.)

  3. am also sick and tired or redknapps crap re this. he’s not for sale its already been said over and over again. harry is just making things worse. sut ya mouth Harry and pick the players. teach him a lesson by playing Kranjcar ahead of him for a month, then see if ‘his head is right’ bring him back down to earth. if he wants a move he will get it by playing well, not disrupting our club

  4. i think Diarra is good replacement because he looks like a dolphin therefore his playful friendly temprement is good for the locker room, and maybe he balance a ball on his nose

  5. Harry you need to keep Modric for one year. For now he must sit on the bench. He has a contract an he needs to abide by that. He needs to waiti till we find a decent repalcement for him which can take a year. He needs to asist the club back to top 4 . The club has faith in him and spent big a few years. All should be responsible to bring the club back to top 4.

  6. If Modric won’t play then they should stop his wages and make the little prick sit on the bench until he decides to fulfill his contract. As for Kranjcar saying we should support Modric’s decision as he has played well for us for three years then I think, well he was paid forty thousand pounds a week and he and any other player should give their best. It’s not like they are doing it for free. Incidentally should Chelsea be allowed to keep making their bids public when they have been told twice so far Modric is not for sale. It’s like no laws apply to Chelsea and they can do what they like. I could understand it if they were told he is for sale at the right price but Levy has not said that.

  7. WHAT USE IS IT TO KEEP A PLAYER IF HE DON`T WANT TO BE AT THE CLUB , SOME RULES RELEATING TO PLAYERS MOVING FOR BIGGER MONEY IS A COMPLETE NONSENSE ANYHOW ANY PLAYER WE SIGN IN THE FUTURE SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO HIS CONTRACT BUT THATS AS LONG AS THE CLUB CAN ENFORCE IT , 4/5 YEARS AT ANY CLUB IS A LONG STINT NO HOW SO SELL MODRIC AND IN FUTURE TIGHTEN UP THE CONTRACT AND TELL THE PLAYER IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS WHAT HIS ROLL IS AND WHAT HIS CONTRACT EXPECT FROM HIM .

  8. HARRY AND LEVY ARE LEAVING IT LATE AS USUAL TO SIGN PLAYERS , REGARDLESS TO REDUCING THE RANKS TO BRING IN PLAYERS THERE MUST BE A WORKING PERIOD BEFORE PLAYERS GET THEIR FIST PAYMENT OR IF I AM RIGHT THEY GET PAID EVERY 6 MONTHS IF THIS IS SO WHY CAN THE BUSSINESS NOT BE CONCLUDED IT WILL NOT COST SPURS ANYTHING IN WAGES FOR NEW PLAYERS FOR QUITE A WHILE , HOW IS A COACH EXPECTED TO GEL NEW PLAYERS IN WITH THEIR NEW MATES ALTHOUGH ITS A MAN`S GAME SO THEY SAY .
