The rumours have finally come to an end as the club announces the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor on a season long loan from Manchester City.

The 27 year old Togo international was in the stands last night to watch his new team draw with Hearts to progress to the group stages of the Europa League and confirmation of the deal came shortly afterwards.

Adebayor improved considerably as a player after arriving in the premiership in 2006. Previously he averaged around one in four goals during his time in France before taking that up to one in two for Manchester City and for his previous English club, whoever they were.

It’s been a long time coming but Spurs have finally signed a striker (!) – albeit temporarily. Is this the news we’ve been waiting for and should we be looking to bring in another front man before the end of the month?

      • tonyrich…what makes sense is to get rid of 2 strikers who are pathetic. they cant run, they are lazy and are pants. we cant carry more than 4 forwards due to wages and team morale. crouch, pav and defoe aren’t going to be happy being 3/4/5th choice and getting the odd carling cup game and europa league. VDV and adebayor are going to be 1st choice. FACT!…so get rid of the waste and have damaio as back up with a young hungry kane learning the ropes in the cups. i know its unlikely we will sell 2/3 strikers so this is just based on what id like rather than what will happen

  1. On that performance last night Pav’s gota go… the guy’s a nightmare every shot he had was no where near the mark, one went for a throw in another in row z, another would have gone for a throw had a spurs player not have been there to keep it in, Kane does look good but not quite ready yet. YES we do need another striker.

  2. yeah… think we do
pav seems ineffective & crouch seems to encourage dare i say it… a sort of – avoid – the – midfielders – almost long ball approach. so yep, i’d out them two.
i’d keep defoe as he’s that live-wire type player i like & i wouldn’t mind harry making a bid on anelka or drogba (both big strong & suprisingly mobile guys with an eye for goal).
don’t know too much about the brazilian hit man that harry’s trying to get in but if he’s any good a 16 million price tag would be a bargain.

  3. PAVLYUCHENKO MUST GO THE MAN IS A HUGH DISAPPOINTMENT GET RID , I HAVE NEVER SEEN DAMAIO PLAY SO NO COMMENT THERE , ANOTHER STRIKER REQUIRED WHEN WE GET SHOT OF PAVLYUCHENKO AND CROUCH DON`T BE TOO GREEDY LEVY IF YOU SELL , KANE IS A LITTLE RAW JUST YET WHAT EVER LEVY AND HARRY UNEARTH FINE BY ME , DIARRA WOULD BE GREAT IF HE CAN OVERCOME HIS WAGE DEMAND , CAHILL A MUST SAMBA FOR ME THE GUY IS VERY STIFF NO GREAT MOBILITY COYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Pav is such a waste of space… he looks so poor last night against Hearts! He has to go.
and although i like Crouch as a person and has a good attitude etc. he isnt really going to fire us back into the champions league. so like many people have already said, get rid of these two and bring in a new hungry striker!

  5. Yes we still need another striker(s) get rid with Pavlyuchenko, buy Damiao and let Kane develop by loan him out to an championsship side. Adebayor Defoe Damiao Crouch looks awesome, we still need to buy Diarra in my opinion and Cahill too. What I have seen so far this start of season, Dawson is not the answer in the back four Xl and Corluka is also out of shape. Really hope that Levy will buy back ups for every line.
    COYS

  6. Seriously, I was at the lane last night. I had high hopes for Kane but he didn’t really look like the bright young prospect everyone has been rating behind the scenes. Barely did anything then fluffed a penalty. I realise its a big stage and everything but I expected more. However, Pavluychenko was quite simply, awful. He was worse than Keane when Keane was playing at his worst. WE NEED A NEW STRIKE FORCE.

  7. IF WE CAN GET DAMIAO IN WE GOT A FUTURE 40 MILL STRIKER.BUT WE’D HAVE TO LET HIM SETTLE .FOR NOW ALONG WITH ADE IT WOULD BE GOOD TO GET DEBELE FROM FULHAM OR LUCAS PODOLSKI,OR THAT SOUTH AMERICAN HAMBURG STRIKER VDV USE TO PLAY WITH. A VERSITILE STRIKER WHO CAN RUN AT PLAYERS FROM WIDE .TO KEEP LENNON ON HIS TOES.

  8. Yes! Yes! I know I shouldn’t over-react but Pav’s performance was disgraceful- he’s shooting was more wayward than an epiletic myopic drunkard with a pistol. Quite simply, more is needed up front & Damaio is worth a punt on & Kane should be blooded in the cups- only through games will they develop.

  9. I used to think that Pav wwas a better option than Crouch – but not anymore – if last noght was anything to go by then we should just give away Pav for free. Keep Crouch as – even though I agree we tend to play a more uattractive football with him in the team – he is a more effective sub. Throw hin in at the deep end in the last 25 min and then keep pouring balls into the zone – it could be effective. As long he never starts a game – besides EL and CC

  10. normally i defend pav and have said he is good to have around as back up to defoe and that crouch should go but last night he was awful! it wasnt just his shootin, any time a pass didnt come his way or he lost the ball he just jogged off in the other direction, anyone else would atleast have put up a fight to try and get the ball back, i still dont rate crouch so think another striker needs to come in as at the end of the season adebayor will go back to city or will do brilliantly for us and be out of our price range next season so will go elsewhere.

  11. TR what do you expect in return for Crouch and Pav? they are not spurs standard and do not conjur fear in to the hearts of anyone other than: me on f***** match day! Defoe should only get a squeeze because , well…he’s english? ! even then, he only plays for the country because we don’t have any ‘ real forwards ‘ to do the job.
Sell pav after we sell Crouch and if Harry could actually coach in amodern and or prolific style, playesr like dos snatos would not be left to fiddle their thumbs .. hope adebayour remembers some drills from ( the special one) because rednapp ( if believed) is best at hugging angry upset players( what is this mentoring or top flight football? )

  12. Hi all, it’s strange I was just discussing this at half time last night. Yes we have now got Ady, the trouble is, what happens if he gets injured? Especially if he’s out for 6-7 months, things can happen! The we are back to JD, who at least is trying, then Crouch who needs at least 10 chances on goal to score and poor old Pav who at the moment couldn’t hit a goal if he was only 1 foot away from goal! I reckon, we still need a player to play alongside Dawson in defence. Then we need a player in midfield who will sit, and also a playmaker. So with this in mind there’s 5 days until the transfer window closes, so 5 transfers in 5 days that will do ‘Arry

  13. This gonna sound crazy but I think we should play Bale up front. Pace, power and a good leaper, finisher and shooter. He would be amazing.
