We had the same stories with William Gallas last year so it should be expected that the newspapers should highlight Emmanuel Adebayor’s past and ask whether Spurs fans will be welcoming him with open arms this season.
To be fair, these stories had been a bit thin on the ground this far so it was left to our old nemesis the Daily Mail to ask the question.
Adebayor’s new team mate Benoit Assou-Ekotto answered emphatically by saying: “I don’t think there will be any trouble with the Spurs fans and Emmanuel.
“The fans when they come to the stadium they come to watch football and give their best to the team and I am sure they will support Emmanuel.
“For sure when he used to play for Arsenal the fans did not like him, but for us everyone will love him if he scores 25 goals this season.
“Emmanuel is a great player and I believe he will be a great signing for Spurs this season.”
Which sums it up rather neatly and a goal for Emmanuel this Saturday will be a great start. It was a long summer of rumours, most of which had little foundation and it will be a relief for many to see Adebayor and Scott Parker take to the pitch at Molineux so that we can get on with the rest of the season.
lets all get behind no just Adebayor but the whole team, and get up that table where we belong.
Adabayor, Adabayooooooooooooooooooour, we used to hate you, we dont anymore. I think he will be decent. It is a simple as that. Get behind your players, it will help him do well. We need him to lead our line.
