Another day, another striker linked to Tottenham Hotspur and today’s transfer rumour involves Ivory Coast centre forward Seydou Doumbia who currently plays his football in Russia with CSKA Moscow.

Doumbia was with our old adversaries Young Boys where he played for two seasons before travelling to the Russian league in 2010. In fact, his goal scoring record is phenomenal – 50 goals in 64 league matches for the Swiss side and 22 in 35 for CSKA.

Of course, everyone will say that these are weaker leagues but the player may have given a hint that he can cut it at the highest level with two goals in CSKA’s recent Champions’ League tie with Lille.

At 23, he looks a good prospect so expect him to be hailed as the ‘new Drogba’ if he hasn’t been already and with that record, it’s a surprise that he hasn’t been linked more heavily with a move to the Premier League.

  1. We were first linked with him in the Mirror in December 2009. He was born on December 1987 making him nearly 26 years old. Good player no doubt, but prospect?

    • lol nice one hoopsur.. since 08/09 he’s averaged .72 goals a game, which regardless of the league is pretty damn good. They reportedly paid €15mil for him back in Jan. 2010 so i couldn’t even imagine what CSKA would want for him now. Would be a good signing though and maybe he could help groom Coulibaly.
