Luka Modric completed his 100th Premiership appearance on Sunday against Fulham – a milestone that a few may have felt he wouldn’t reach after the summer speculation surrounding the player.

Typically, the Croatian used the opportunity to deflect attention away from himself and onto the victory itself.

“It’s a nice achievement to play 100 games in the Premier League and we won, that’s the main thing,” Luka said on the club website.

“It was a hard game, especially in the second half. In the first half we played really well, we didn’t allow Fulham to play their game.

“In the second half Fulham played really well but in the end we managed to survive and not concede a second goal. That was unbelievable!”

Much was made of Modric’s goal line clearance in injury time that kept the score at 2-1.

“It was my duty during free-kicks and corners to be on the second post and thankfully I managed to clear the ball,” he added. “It was very important. Before that, Brad saved brilliantly and after, Jermain scored to win the game.”

It wasn’t Luka’s best game in a Spurs shirt by any means but he has more than played his customary role in our leap up the table. Another point from our game in hand would take us above Chelsea and hopefully underline that we have just as much potential, if not more, than our West London rivals.

  1. Newcastle will be playing Man City Away Man Utd Away and Chelsea Home in the next three games

We have Villa Home West Brom Away and Bolton Home

So dependant on results we could quite easily see us leapfrog to 3rd maybe even second dependant on the Newcastle results…. Im confident we can get at least 7 points from those 3 games

  2. i think luka maybe should have been sacrificed at half time for Sandro but he has settled down now and is playing well. can def contribute to a top 4 if he stays fit and we continue to let sandro/parker sweep everything up in front of the defence, was nice to see Lennon taking players on again for his goal

  4. Sandro must start. We are not really playing that well, we were very lucky to win on Sunday and fortunate at Blackburn and poor at times against QPR. If we are serious CL contenders we should not be getting overun, and we were overrun, by teams like Fulham, no disrespect to Fulham. Murphy, Sidwell bossed midfield in the second half. I could not believe the first sub was JD for Vdv when we were clearly needing Sandro for Modders.
