Spurs enjoyed a comfortable enough win over Cheltenham in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday and manager Harry Redknapp was quick to praise many members of the side. While Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson returned from injury, Niko Kranjcar impressed in a rare start and Jake Livermore also caught the boss’s eye as he filled in at right back.

“It was great to have Michael back, he’s a fantastic professional. Aaron was back as well and there were a few lads that needed to get a game.

“Jake Livermore slotted in at right-back, he’s never played there before and he did a great job. He always does, wherever you ask him to play.

“The two midfielders Pienaar and Kranjcar were outstanding. Niko was class and he’s a fantastic footballer. They kept the ball and moved the ball around great for us.”

Spurs fielded an attacking line up and were rewarded with goals from Jermain Defoe, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Gio Dos Dantos.

“We scored some good goals and I thought we played some good stuff,” Harry concluded.

The win sees Spurs progress into the fourth round where an away tie with Watford awaits.

  2. Gio should be given a chance to prove himself; at least off the bench as Rafa’s replacement. he’s far better than what we’re being linked with i.e. Hoillet, Dembele

    • No he shouldn’t, he had his time and failed to do anything in the Europa League. He is unfit and doesn’t try in training so has not shown the right attitude to be given “favours.”

  3. The problem with Gio is he looked good against Cheltenham but against Everton or Wolves i think it would be different.Good player bad attuide.Time to move on and a shame as i think in the middle of the park is where he plays best.Good passer and great ball control if he trained could be a great playmaker.
