The name Mateo Kovacic has appeared in the rumour columns for a few months now but there is an indication from the Croatian’s club that Spurs are keen to tie up a deal for his services.

Kovacic is just 17 and currently playing as an attacking midfielder for Dinamo Zagreb. Having broken into the first team in 2010 at the age of sixteen, he has gone on to establish himself as a regular starter and one of the hottest young properties in Europe.

The player himself has hinted that he would like a move away, but only after one more year at Zagreb,

“I’m still young and in no hurry,” said Kovacic. “I believe that it would be good for me if I would stay at Dinamo for one more year and then go out from Croatia.”

However, the club themselves have suggested that a deal could be struck in this window.

“The transfer window is quiet at our club at the moment,” said Dynamo’s Director of Sport Zoran Mamic.

“But nobody knows what the next few days will bring to us.

“The fact is that Manchester City and Tottenham are interested in Mateo Kovacic and they want to buy him right now.

“But even if we would say yes and the deal would go through, he would stay with us until the end of the season.”

It may not be the stellar signing that some fans are looking for but Kovacic would certainly be a worthy addition to the crop of young talent that Spurs have been bringing in to the club.

  1. Why would we need this superb talent when Pavlyuchenko has signed a 1 year extension, what more could we want!!!!!!!
Oh and fuck you Howard Webb, Balotelli, Lescott and all the other mugs who enjoy cheating Tottenham Hotspur.

  2. I agree with Totspurs on this one… if there’s a real talent out there sign him and loan him right back out.
We waited too long on Damiao and now he’d be going for at least twice what we could have had him for…
