The last few weeks have marked a low point in Jermaine Defoe’s Tottenham career and will doubtless lead to some early rumours of a departure from the club this summer. Injury has played its part but when JD has been fit, Harry has tended to overlook him in favour of either Rafael van der Vaart or Louis Saha.
However, a goal from the subs bench on Sunday reminded anyone that he still has goals in him and for tomorrow at least, the striker looks to have claimed a place in the starting XI.
Ironically, Louis Saha, who came to the club with an injury reputation of his own, misses out tomorrow with a knee problem. On the plus side, Bale, Parker and VDV are all likely to be available for this and William Gallas could feature at the expense of Ledley King.
A morale boosting win is much needed at the club right now but how should the starting XI look tomorrow night?
Cudicini,
Walker Nelsen Dawson Rose
Lennon Livermore Sandro Kranjcar
Defoe VdV
obviously a win is a must not only so it doesnt look bad going out to stevenage but also for morale as said in the article.
Team i would go with
Cudicini
Smith Dawson Nelson/Gallas Rose
lennon livermore sandro bale (45 mins then kranjcar)
vdv
Defoe
I would go with that lineup, but start with Kranjcar and have Bale start the second half fresh against tired legs.
its nice to know that we have strength in depth, BUT Harry what are you doing. up to now things have gone your way, i’ll say this word and as a footballing man you must get this asprilla ,hope my spelling hasn’t offended the man. Don’t do a newcastle ,it wasn’t broken so why are you tampering with it. As a football man i respect you, but you can’t tell me that JD has been in bad form ,but you get saha and i think he’s good to start, JD deserves better treatment we had more chance with JD starting using saha as sub, but what do i know……………. COYS don’t let us all down.be warriors
Smith played in the cup for MK Dons so will be Cup-Tied.
