On 90 minutes last night the wheels were firmly coming off from Spurs season and Rafael van der Vaart’s injury time equaliser was met with a greater sense of relief than euphoria.

We have now surrendered third place for the time being but as Harry said after the game, the point could yet prove vital.

“Stoke are always a threat on set-plays and I said we had to be careful, try not to give away free-kicks, but we did and paid the penalty,” Harry said.

“In the end we were thankful for Rafa’s goal.

“With four minutes to go it’s a good point, with 90 to go it’s a bad point. We’d have taken a point with four minutes to go, for sure.

“It might be a vital point at the end of the season, it might just come in handy.”

It’s got to that stage where you’re starting to look at results below you and the best news of the night came with Chelsea’s defeat at Manchester City. However, a run of results along the lines of that which we achieved in September will help us forget this depressing period of the season.

“We need to go on a little run ourselves now, we need to pick ourselves up quickly and pick up a few positive results, “Harry added.

It may yet prove to be a vital point but the result of Saturday’s game at Stamford Bridge could be absolutely crucial.

  1. Is Redknapp having a laugh? What the hell is going on at Spurs? The game against Stoke was probably the worst I have seen Spurs play. Passing was awful and all we kept doing was lumping the balll up to the strikers and not play our normal passing game. Bale was awful, Modric was awful and the only player trying to give it a go was Rafa. The players need to take a look at themselves, put this down to pile of shit and get back on track or you are going throw everything away that you worked so hard for. Arsenal must be laughing big time at us and us fans are the ones having to suffer their snide comments. How we cannot beat a team like Stoke is beyond me. All they did was block, take out our crosses and really they had no imagination a bit like us really.

  2. More an embassrassing point than a vital one. It’s quite an insult to our intelligence when Harry says “Stoke are always a threat on set-plays”. Answer me this Harry – why aren’t we though?! We had about 15 corners and maybe 3 edge of the box free-kicks. All completely ineffective.

    • BECAUSE YOU SOLD CROUCH TO STOKE!!!!!!!!!

MUAHHAHAH AH AHHAHAHAHA OH OH OH HA HA HA EHHEHEHEH EHOHEOUH UHH UH UH HUH UHU hhAHAHHAHHAHAHAHA

  3. Yea. This point is always cropping up. We are so ineffective at corners and free kick situations. Even Matt Le Tissier commented last night on Spurs not being able to get a corner over the first man. Set pieces can be an effective way of poaching a few goals but the ball has to be delivered into the danger area. Surely we practise set pieces…but our play would indicate otherwise. Very frustrating indeed.

  4. Agree with the above.. Modric was awful again, as has really been poor recently by his own standards. He should be running games, but recently every game he only has couple of nice turns / flicks here or there.

He seems one where his head is easily effected by what goes on around him and the media. He needs to sort it out. He’s supposed to be a £40m+ player.

  5. All that mind the gap stuff is coming back to haunt us now. Our best side for decades and arsenals worst and they are above us.

  6. Spot on RhinoNeal and Jam Shoes, that was a terrible performance…why do Spurs always give away soft goals from set pieces, but never score themselves? 15 corners??? Hardly any cleared the first man. It’s a joke. And why were we playing through the middle so much, there was no width. Now we need a result at Chelscum, not easy…at this rate there will be no CL, and no Special One….

  7. I was never comfortable or happy with all the Mind The Gap talk. Everyone knew that we had a tough run coming up, and maybe our position, whilst not false was maybe not telling the whole story. There had been games earlier in the season (WBA and Fulham away spring to mind) where wins could have been draws or even defeats. Don’t know where I’m going with all this but certainly without Lennon and Adebayor we look a lot less dangerous going forward. Would it totally outrageous to give Bentley a go on the right. No the idea doesn’t fill me with joy either but could he do any worse the Krancjar? (maybe). Oh and ffs what’s with the set pieces. Surely they should be worth at least 10 goals a season. Modric amongst others couldn’t clear the first man. Even Arsenal scored their winner last night from a corner. Could go on but I’ve probably bored/depressed enough of you already oh and COYS roll on Saturday

    • ROLL ON MY ASS ON SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

      MIND THE GAP PUSSIESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

      MIND THE FKING GAP

  8. Still believe we have better team than gooners, the difference is the coaching or lack of it. Of all the set plays we had not one was effective or even looked like causing a problem. Huge, lumpy athletic Stoke defence and redknapp goes for the high ball into the box, mind you most of the time it didn’t even get to the box. Pulis gets away with driving ban on the pretence that local traders need him to drive, presumably only 40 grand pw doesn’t leave enough to cover the cost of a driver for him. He must feel the same when he plays against his dear ol’ friend “Arry,” no chance of losing

    • OF COURSE YOU LOTS ARE STILL BELIEVE IN THIS JOKE TEAM! COZ U ARE ALWAYS BEEN A JOKE YEAR IN YEAR OUT!!

      ARRYYYYYYY ARRYYYYYYY ARRRYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I TOLD U ALREADY , GO SIGN SARA OR SANDRA OR WHATEVER HER NAME WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT LEAST SHE CAN PUT THE BALL IN TO ARRYS ASS

  9. Me again! if anyone needs reminding how things can change you need only look at last night. At one stage with Spurs losing and Chelsea winning we were only one point ahead with Saturdays game to come. 12 mins later the gap was five points.

  10. From the Man U, Everton and Stoke games we get the following stats:

    Shots: Spurs 64 v 23 Opposition
    On target: 36 v 12
    Goals: 2 v 5

…which is ridiculous. The positive I take from that is that even though we’ve been playing like crap compared to the rest of the season, we are still creating bags of chances and should be winning these games. We just need lady luck to stop hanging around the Emirates and come back to us for a few games.

  11. HAHAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

WHERE ARE ALL THOSE PUSSIES WHO CAME OUT SAYING MIND THE GAP TO US THE MIGHTY AND THE ONLY CLUB IN NORTH LONDON ARSENAL!?????????????????????????????????????????????

DO I TOLD TO MIND THE FUCKING GAP??????????

KEEP LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKING UP YOU PUSSIES MUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHA OH OH EH EEHE HE HEHEH HUIHAHUHIHFAUFOIHGAAOIFHHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

TINY CLUB WILL ALWAYS BE TINY CLUB!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAAHAHAH CANT HAVE ENOUGH OF THIS!!!

WHERE ARE YOU SPUSSIES FANSS????? I CHALLENGE U!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MIND YOUR FUCKING GAP AS IT WERE FOR YEARS !!!!!!!!!!

    • Grow up you sad prick. Funny how you crawl out from under your rock now your a point above us. Where have you been all season?! Without van persie and the officials you would be down in the bottom of the table! Pressures on arse now and we all know when the pressure is on the arseholes crumble!

      • AND WHERE WOULD YOU’S BEEN WITHOUT A THE ARSENAL OUTCAST WHICH WAGES SPUDS CAN’T PAY?

THERE IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE JUST ONE TEAM IN NORTH LONDON NOT BECAUSE WE HATE YOU LITTLE CUNTS BUT BECAUSE CLASS IS PERMANENT

        AND MIND THE FUCKING GAP

        • ALL MOUTH BEHIND YOUR COMPUTER, YOU ARE TRUE CUNTS WHO TAKE IT UP THE ARSE ANAL.
WANKER GOONS, TIME WE GAVE YOU A SPANKING.

        • Ps adebayor left you for a better team, a team that would win trophys remember. He was not an outcast as he was a first choice starter at arsenal. For the record an outcast would be someone like bendtner you fool!

  12. I honestly can’t see us finishing in the top 4 now. I feel so stupid now after putting so much hope and faith into this team only to be let down yet again. 13 point gap a few weeks ago and we are now a point behind.

  13. Come on! Chelsea have to go to Arsenal, Liverpool. Fulham (a derby) and to Villa, plus play Spurs, Newcastle at home. PLUS they must play benfica home and away, and may even get past them to play a top Spanish side. Chelsea have it all to do. All we have done is lost 3 VERY difficult matches!

  14. We have to go to Chelsea, Sunderland and Villa and also have the fa cup to worry about and a potential semi final with Chelsea. I just can’t see where the next win is going to come from.

  15. I agree that we SHOULD be able to hold off Chelsea to 4th spot, but why have we surrendered 3rd to the Goons??? Really frustrated right now that we have key players unavailable that would make a real difference to the side right now (Lennon, Adebayor). I hope that they are both back for Saturday, which is essentially the pivotal league game of our season – avoid defeat and I think we’ll kick on, but lose and the wheels will all come off!!! Arsenal winning 6 on the spin is just bad luck for us right now – based on the form of their previous 22 games, we would still be in 3rd now, even with those 3 defeats in a row.

If we can take something from Second Hand Fridge and win our remaining home games at least, then we should comfortably get top 4 and run very close for 3rd…

  16. I just can’t help thinking that these last few weeks shows how far behind them we really are and we’ve let redknapp and the media convince us that we are far better than we are. Redknapp wants to spend less time leaning out of car windows and more on playing players in their right positions.

    • We aren’t behind them in terms of ability. They have almost a fit first team now. We don’t. Where as before we did and they didn’t. But the one thing they have that we don’t and its cost us for the last 4 seasons is they have a prolific striker. Van persie is 80% the reason they are where they are now. Without his goals they would be bottom half of the table. For this we blame redknapp for not identifying a striker and purchasing one. Instead, looking for bargains or loans in the premier league who there own teams don’t want because there not good enough! The striker is the difference!

  17. Our problems all stem from Harry Redknapp. Firstly he is tactically useless. He doesn’t set our team up, with our strengths in mind against the opposing teams weaknesses. For example. Against arseholes he played king, void of pace against walcott and look what happened. He choose to rest lennon and vdv again wrong decisions. He has been doing this all season and before. His persistance with crouch as a lone striker cost us last season. Secondly: Harry should not be playing players out of position. If lennon is out we should not weaken two further places by placing bale right and modric left. Likewise, redknapp needs to learn squad rotation and to drop a player when there out of form. Thirdly: Harry is useless in the transfer window. All he ever buys are washed up old players from the premier league. He has done all through his career. He has terrible knowledge of foreign leagues, remember his ‘I’ve never heard or ganso’?! He has brought badly. We have needed a CB, a couple of strikers and a back up winger for ages. Infact 4 seasons and still nothing. What we got was an over the hill, injury prone Gallas and Nelson to add to our already injury prone King. We got a striker on loan that arsenal and man city didn’t consider good enough and a striker so past it Everton couldn’t wait to get him off the books. Not forgetting we signed pienaar and didn’t need him! Apart from Parker and of course frediel (bought as a short term option) because redknapp could not find a better keeper than gomes in the world, the rest of harrys transfer dealings have been awful! Buying back keane only to sell him 6 months later?! He doesn’t get praise for vdv or sandro as both were levy signings. Now these old players are burnt out, injury prone and not performing. Next season we need to replace Frediel, Cudicini, Gallas, King, Nelson, Saha. Not to mention we will lose ade so we need 2 strikers, need to replace gomes, bassong, corluka, pienaar. Still need a winger, cb and strikers and that’s without any of our star players we may need to replace! Redknapp probably won’t be here then either. Its a mamouth task because of redknapps shocking transfer business. It all adds up as to why we are doing so bad and it was only a matter of time. All blame points to one man! After belittling his team, telling the fans they know nothing and never had it so good, he really has done more worse than right! A better level of manager would have got the core of this team playing better, would still have a points gap over arsenal and be in touching distance with the top 2. Would have brought in better players, what we needed, and dropped what we didn’t. Would have some tactical awareness and set the team up better to play meaning more points. Harry is a fraud and always has been. Short term boat steadier, he is out of his league now and has taken us as far as he can.

    • Oh and a few more points to add, he wanted to keep woodgate, he also wanted phil neville, david beckham, paul scholes, Joe, cole, rio ferdinand and wanted to keep crouch. It could of been worse. We really could have been dads army!! Suprised he hasn’t asked Jamie to polish his boots off!! An why does he not have a word with bale and tell him to stay on the wing. Why can’t we take freekicks or set pieces and why can’t we defend them?! We have about 6 coaches..what are they doing?! Harry is a lazy manager who relies on Jordan, bond, sherwood, ferdinand, allen etc. He hugs the media limelight, talks bollox and I sincerely hope he gets the england job because he will get found out for what he really is!

    • Spot on, Jay! Sack Harry the clown now and get Van Gaal (no club for the moment). Let’s not forget some other management mistake: we let players leave on loan we could use now very well : Caulker, Pienaar, Corluka (why not him on RB and Walker as RM when Lennon is injured?),…. As for the transfer part of your opinion, I am afraid our balance is worse than one might think. We sold a lot of players, but never bought any high profile ones (except VDV) in recent years and just get outcasts on loan. This should make one think about the financial books. Let’s be honest, we have been in 3rd position because *rs*n*l and Chelski were struggling, not because of our qualities. We won only one game against the current top 5, at home against *rs*n*l (where they could justify a draw if I would be neutral), just like last year. I also agree with the playing players out of position part, which cost us certainly against Everton (and maybe Man U). Bale was 10 minutes on the left and overrun old Neville 3 times. The best players must play on their best position, if we have to change things because of injury, adapt the tactics but leave Bale and Modric where they are. Redknapp only knows 4-4-2 unfortunately, otherwise he could figure out some formation with Parker and Sandro which would create a buffer for the defense (e.g. Man City). Redknapp will not take us to a higher level, a high profile manager like Van Gaal would if we would buy two established CB and a clinical striker. If we get CL-football next year, we should sign these profiles, keep Bale, Modric, Lennon, Sandro and Defoe, and than we can really mount a title challenge. I’m afraid CL-football will depend on a lucky win against Chelski, a draw between *rs*n*l and Chelski later on, and clown Harry being neutralized…

  18. Wilshire has been out all season for them and they still have mertersacker, diaby and coquelin out. It just seems as if we’ve been laughing at their squad all season in the misplaced belief that ours is any better.

    • Mertesacker and diaby being out is probably a blessing in disguise at the moment as mertesacker is a weak link in there defence and song is better than diaby. Wilshere is over rated anyway but I guess they do miss him.

  19. Am a gunner, first time on this blog, I’d try to be respectful but y’all were too disrespectful to arsenal during our slump, you guys should just accept you will always be second best in North London. St Totteringham’s 2012 is still on, I expect we will open at least a three point lead over you folks this week, gunners are debating whether to wish u guys well in top four chase now hahahahahaha scum

  20. Your only hope for next season is for Redknap to get the England job and Levy to appoint a manager not a market trader.

Sadly, with every point you drop it becomes clearer just what a poor coach Old ‘Arry is and it becomes less likely that the FA will come calling.

Levy can’t afford to sack him so you’re stuck with him. Tough luck!!

    • I beg to differ. Harry is the perfect manager here. This spell is connected to FA job for sure, but Harry just need to step up and say if he is interested or not. I would like this club to have stability, and keeping the current manager is better. we could do a lot worst. right now we have a good starting team, but much could be done to improve the overall squad. as you can see, bringing in saha to cover Ade wasn’t helpful. glad parker is back, but he is getting old.

  21. Things can change very quickly. Arsenal fans spent much of this season arguing amongst themselves about the manager, the club, the transfer strategy, the wage bill, the owner. Basically anything to try and explain why we weren’t winning everything in sight. Funnily enough it’s all gone rather quiet now.

I still think you lot will get top 4 and at the start of the season I think you would have been more than happy with that? Personally I think that Harry is a circus and you’re better off without him long term.

Ignore the gloaters, the majority of us know in a couple of weeks it might be us losing 2 or 3 games and spurs back on a run.

  22. Put simply, if you offered Wenger the chance to swap his entire team for ours right now he would snatch your hand off. Regardless of our current slump (which really isn’t a slump at all as we’re playing perfectly well enough to win games) our players are better than theirs in just about every position. A few typically stubborn bad calls from Harry and a general loss of confidence which hit just before the first Stevenage game (which was a far worse performance than even the Arsenal one) doesn’t change the quality of the team.

It’s up to Harry to really earn his money now and convince everyone that they are as good as they thought they were a few months ago. We’ll still finish above Arsenal.

    • don’t be silly. i love this team, but don’t overrate them. as a squad, we are not better than Arsenal, nor they that much better than us as well. heck, we are marginally better than Chelsea, but that is because they are an aging bunch, and haven’t done too well to replace certain parts to my suprise btw. Our future nucleus has a chance to leaving us always. Not so with Man U and Arsenal. Our rivals can boast kids Walcott, Ox, Wilshere, Ramsey and Scenzesny however the hell you spell his name. I fear the next decade will be all gunners unless we convince Bale, walker, modric and co to stick around. but they are always linked to bigger and richer clubs. we need to put it together, and get to CL to convince players, this club is legit. otherwise, we are just the best of the not elite clubs.

    • Arse and spurs are very similar in terms of ability all over the park except up front they have a goal scorer and we don’t. Our defence is the same, our midfield, ours slightly better but upfront and its only really van persie but that is the difference. Take away his goals arsenal would be about 16th. For the purposes of this, as a goonie said we rely on adebayor take his goals away and we would be above arsenal still in about 5th/6th.

  23. In the last 7 or 8 games Spurs have had around 100 corners and 40 free kicks.

We never have a man nearside to flick on corners. We never have a man far side to head back in. We take free kicks 99% the time as if we are playing rugby – these guys are pros – yet we all know you should never lean back when taking a free kick else its going to go over. Lean in, take it properly. If we took corners like we do free kicks and free kicks like we do corners, we would probably have won a lot more of these games.

Confidence is down. Supporters need to get behind the team – we need some new chants! Fans need to loud – look at Stoke fans when twe played them at their place. Look at the way the Arse got behind their team even when they were 2 nil down… We need to be much more vocal.

Everyone collectively can sort this out.

  24. @Jay
Still dreaming of finishing above the king of London?
Jay go kick your ass and stop dreaming.
