Just as he did last year, Danny Rose has stepped in as cover for BAE at left back but if the player himself had had his way, he may have already been out on loan elsewhere.

“It’s been very frustrating,” Danny said. “I wanted to go out on loan at the start of the season, and in January, and I wasn’t allowed. But it looks like I’m in the team for the end of the season now so I’ve just got to play well and take it from there.”

Rose also went on to add that it’s not been a happy season at the Lane.

“I haven’t been happy, there’s been no secret in that,” he added. “The team hasn’t been rotated that much. But now that Benoit’s out for the season I’ve just got to make the most of these last couple of games and do well – not only for myself but for the team as well, because we have been struggling lately in terms of results. We’ve got to finish the right way and hopefully finish fourth.

“I was allowed to go out [on loan] last season, and the season before that, to get games. But the gaffer manages the club and he’s obviously felt that he might need me at some stage.”

Danny’s comments may be a little surprising to some but does he have a point? Vedran Corluka was allowed out on loan and there is no specialist cover for Kyle Walker at right back. Would a similar arrangement have suited Rose and the club better?

  1. I can understand Rose wanting to play but if i was at Spurs training with stars i no where i would like to be. Just look at Carrol sat watching Derby players he is learning nothing only patience. Rose needs to improve is game when he has space in front of him he needs t use it. Some of is crossing was woeful and a few of his passes he will be a very good player but injuries have not helped in the last few seasons.

  2. Of course he has a point, this is a fact, the likes of pav, corluka, gio, defoe never got a look in when the team was winning and playing well. This did 2 things primarily, 1) burnout, the main 11/12 he was constantly using are tired, they have nothing left in the tank, the speed at which we play our football requires a massive shift, the main core are feeling this and thus no away win in 2012. 2) The outcasts do not feel like part of the team, how can they really celebrate with the team when they were never part of it. They can’t and instead they feel sad and frustrated that they cannot share this feelings with the fellow team mates and squad.

  3. Not biggest HR fan, but this is insane coming from this player..Once he’s played a proper game, and has put in some decent crosses let him open his mouth again..He’s got a loooooonng way to go..

  4. He’s got a point though. Sandro should have been played more when we were hot. Same with Gio. Same with Lennon. I thought they should have all put in more time when the team were on the up and up. Now… we need them to cover, but more desperately the first team to fight us into Champions League. We will have to root against Chelsea winning the cup, and that is sad. Who knows, you think Arsenal will slip its next two games? Highly unlikely.

    • If we win are next 3 and arsenal draw one we’ll have third. But can’t see the later happening. I agree with Danny. Harry didn’t rotate the squad enough the past 2 years. But it didn’t really affect the defense, it was more the midfield and now everybody is tired or (and) out of form.

      • One thing that might be in our favour is that the goons are away to West Brom last game of the season, so Woy’s last game, so hopefully they’ll be looking to give him a good send off! I don’t think it’ll matter though as I can’t see us finishing the season with 4 wins on the bounce…

  5. Totally agree !! Harry should of at least given him a few minutes game time when we were on the up, or when BAE had a poor game. Last thing we want in the squad is frustrated players not playing their best due to lack of games. This is one of the reasons I wanted Redknap to go, because he has upset too many squad players for my liking, and this has cost us dearly.
