When rumours start over the departure of one player it gives the press some column inches to fill over a potential replacement. Such is the case with Spurs and Rafael van der Vaart and despite some more positive comments from the Dutchman over his Tottenham future, the papers are already lining up a new arrival to take his slot.

Suggestions are that Spurs are looking at bids for either Milos Krasic or Bologna’s Gaston Ramirez. We’ve seen Serbian Krasic mentioned a lot in the media and he could well be a good fit for the club with VDV in the side too.

Ramirez is a new name however and at just 21, looks more like one for the future. He does have 9 caps for Uruguay at present however but with a fee at £14m being suggested when van der Vaart may fetch only £12m – this one looks like another non-starter.

  1. I watch a lot of italian football and i think ramirez is one the best young players in the league , is has great talent and a good finisher – van der vaart wont commit so let him go , he gets injured every 3 games anyway and has no pace he cant last 90 minutes and gives nothing in defence – plus spurs can only play him in thr one position – so i think ramirez is perfect and can play second striker or out wide – I hope this one happens

  2. Gaston Ramirez is a brilliant young player he would play well with or without rafael van der vaart and he is another player whose value is sure to rise he’s very skillful and when you are playing against teams with solid defences and you cant get near to the opposition goal to have shot he is very accurate at shooting from long range as a lot of his goals have come from way outside the penalty area. We need to sign him now before man city signs him.

  3. He has a way to go yet but is showing a lot of promise. Sweet left foot and was scoring a few goals towards the end of the Serie A campaign. Spurs will face stiff competition should he choose to move on.

  4. last season bale was still 1 of those one 4 the future players .we gotta be savy and bold with signings were not city.i still have faith levy still sees things like this but he just doesnt trust bagpuss .
