The Rafael van der Vaart to Schalke rumours just aren’t going away and there are suggestions in some parts of the media today that the player’s representatives are already in talks with the German side over a potential transfer.
“His qualities are tremendous,” Schalke’s manager Huub Stevens is quoted as saying in Voetbal International. “Schalke won’t say no to Van der Vaart, I still know him from our mutual stay at Hamburger SV and would like to join forces with him again.
“We are in contact with his agent. I’m on holiday right now, but I’m in touch with Schalke general manager Horst Heldt on a daily basis about our plans.
“I don’t know how Raf himself feels about a return to Germany. I haven’t spoken him yet, he’s with his mind on the Euros.”
Stevens also suggested that the door is wide open for VDV, should he choose to walk through it.
“His agreement with Tottenham is still running,” he added “so it seems that we have to pay a transfer sum in case he would come.
“Let’s be clear: if Raf really wants to come, he’s more than welcome. If we have this opportunity to contract him, which looks quite reasonable, we won’t miss our chance.”
This certainly seems to be one rumour that has plenty of substance to it and the player himself may have to make a decision soon. Another question is whether Spurs would attempt to stand in his way.
vdV is going nowhere, mark my words….even if he is sold it will be for at least double the original £10m mooted!!!
Clubs can talk to which ever agent they want to but ultimately will have to talk to the Spurs Chairman and decision maker one Daniel Levy and there my friend the story ends.
sell van der vaart – bassong – dos santos – and buy vertonghen gaston ramirez and stefan joveitic that keep bale and modric and that will see us in a title fight next season
I agree maximus and it should be done now. Levy needs to open his wallet and buy now so we dont miss again. I would also buy Contrao from Portugal (LB) as he will create big problems on the over lap and is solid in defence as well.
