It does seem fairly certain that the new boss will take a look at the goalkeepers at Spurs and he could have a major decision to make over Brad Friedel. Naturally, he may retain Brad for stability or alternatively he may decide that it’s time to start looking at the long term.
Over the last few weeks and months there have been countless keepers doing the paper rounds and the latest of these is Italian international Emiliano Viviano – a 26 year old who is currently with Palermo, his fifth domestic club.
The player is actually co-owned by Inter Milan and Palermo and that alone sounds enough to put off anyone trying to negotiate a deal. However he is highly rated, has six caps for Italy and the suggested valuation at £8m seems cheap.
There have been so many goalkeepers linked now that it’s difficult to take any of these rumours seriously but the new boss’s assessment of the current keeping personnel will certainly be an interesting one to keep an eye on.
