It was widely claimed yesterday that the long-proposed deal between Spurs and Everton for Steven Pienaar was coming to a conclusion with both clubs agreeing on a fee to take the midfielder back to Goodison.
Only a medical seems to stand in the way of the move which will take the South African international back to the club he played for between 2007 and 2011 and with whom he saw out the end of last season on loan.
Steven will leave us after just 18 first team appearances and one goal in the Europa League to show for a largely unhappy stay with the club. The move is probably the best for all concerned but anyone who saw Pienaar play while back at Everton last year will be sorry that we couldn’t get the best out of him.
It’s good business but he’s twice the player that Bentley is on current form so id keep him.
I though AVB would at least take a look at him, he would work well in a 4-2-1-3. Like Ross said his Everton form again proves he is talented.
I suspect this was a business decision. I’m really hoping it relates to getting in 2 quality strikers….. I’m getting worried abouts our striker situation.
I’m getting worried about a lot of things Danny. Our perspective has changed in the last 4 years and our expectations are now higher Than before. Without adding 2 or 3 world class players to our ranks pre season were going backwards. Our main failings last year were that we didn’t put teams to the sword for the whole season. We need bloody top strikers to do that. Not sure who it could be but someone who can at keep up with bale and Lennon would be a great start!
